I usually dedicate a few topics during my Friday rants, but I decided to dedicate this one on the subject of Beyonce, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy. You have to be living under a rock, if one is not aware that Bey had her baby over the weekend. When Bey made the announcement that she was pregnant, the excessive negative and disparaging comments soon followed. There were many rumors that Bey was not pregnant, and that Jay fathered a baby by someone else. The over analyzing of Bey’s stomach and the downright foolish notion that she was wearing a prosthetic tummy was the topic of discussion. Unless someone comes out with proof that they are the surrogate, then those rumors should be deemed false.
During the power couples stay at Lenox Hill hospital, parents were complaining that they could not see their babies due to the overabundance of security. Complaints of parents having to wait over 20 minutes to see their baby were being aired out in the media. Having a baby is the most joyful experience in the world; it does not get any better than that. To shut down a floor where it impacts other parents and family members from seeing their children is just downright wrong. The media made it appear that this is what Bey and Jay wanted. Even if they did, the blame for any disruption should be placed solely on Lenox Hill. The hospital has to deal with the consequences of allowing Bey and Jay’s security to take over and make their own rules. An adequate security plan should have been in place by Lenox Hill, where other parents and visitors were not inconvenience.
Once the baby was born, and the announcement that her name was Blue Ivy it created even more scrutiny. I think it is a beautiful name. Would people have preferred the name Marcy Projects Carter? Some folks stated that Ivy means Illuminati's Very Youngest. Oh it gets better; they are also saying the name Ivy spelled backwards is Lucifer's daughter name. Sometimes I wonder about some of these people in the cyber universe. Unless Jay and Bey start chanting, wearing hooded robes, playing with their Ouija board on the set of their latest video, then I will not believe the hype. Remember, when one becomes gullible, one becomes vulnerable. That means vulnerability leads to stupidity!
The many Photoshop pictures of what the baby probably looks like were rampant all over the web. Some of the pictures were downright bizarre and mean spirited. I’m not going to lie; I did chuckle at a few of those pictures. Rapper 50 cent joined in on the clowning by tweeting his version of what Blue Ivy looks like. It is unusual in hip hop for a rapper to resort to beefing with another rapper at the expense of an innocent baby, nevertheless. I guess when your career is in the abyss that is the only way you can gain attention. Maybe 50 cent is mad Beyonce did not choose him as a husband. Look at the bright side 50; you could always marry Vivica Fox or Ciara. There is a saying that you are what you attract, just look at 50 cent’s past lovers. They are both old news, just like him.
Jay released a track entitled "Glory" after Blue was born, where he dedicated it to his new bundle of joy. Folks complained about that too, and have tweeted that he was capitalizing on his daughter’s birth for monetary gain. He is a proud father and expresses himself as such. Some absentee fathers should take note. It is baffling that some people appear to be angry at man who is happy that he is now a father.
It is safe to come up with the conclusion that jealousy plays a part in all of this misguided anger. Are we mad because we do not know what goes on in their lives? Are we upset because they did not succumb to the debacle known as reality television? I am a strong believer that the less information you give out about your personal life, the less people can talk. It is well known that Bey and Jay have a circle so tight, that not even the FBI can snoop on them. If you ask me, that is smart and saves the relationship from playing itself out in the media. Take for instance the fact that Bey had a previous miscarriage and no one was aware until Jay stated it in the song "Glory". Imagine if people knew about that. It would have added pressure for her to conceive, and she would have to constantly talk about it.
Bey and Jay dated for a substantial amount of years, they both have excellent professional careers, they got married, and they had a baby. They are one of the most powerful Black couples since Will and Jada. Maybe we all need to take note from Bey and Jay, and follow these steps. The titles of baby momma and baby father without going down the aisle are something some of us readily accept. Folks were wasting so much time focusing on Bey and Jay while their own relationships garners much needed attention. As a matter of fact, some people are giving Blue Ivy more attention than their own children. Bey and Jay did everything right, they should be applauded. I guess being the hottest couple in the game brings out a lot of anger in people, a lot of misguided anger.
