Seriously, do you want others to define who you are and what your business is all about? While its true that the market can give you direction for your business plans, you're still the one who knows your business best. When you take measures to clearly define the concepts and values of your business, you are developing a personal brand. And in essence, you are establishing an "expert" status for your business. Your consumers and everyone else you serve will begin to trust you and more importantly...REMEMBER you.
The best way to build your brand, in my opinion, is the human way. You must use sources where you are able to connect directly to others and establish relationships between them and your brand. Social media is the ultimate gateway to building your brand this way. Take advantage of the "hangout spots", offer information related to your brand and engage in conversation with your audience.
In order to get an audience, something will need to attract them. You might have the best brand of a particular service in the whole wide world, but if its wrapped up in sheer boring-ness <---I think I made up a word there--- no one is going to stick around long enough to discover your goodies. Incorporate your brand into all the social media outlets you are a part of by customizing the "scenery" whenever possible. That will certainly grab the attention of your audience. And many of us store visuals in our memory longer than we do just the mere words. People always want to know more about things SEEN that they like. If you are already branding your business and using social media outlets such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter...etc. but you need someone to format your images, match all the elements or even design something from scratch...theres help out there. Your brand is worth the investment.
