One of the hardest things to do as a business owner is get in front of your target market. There are so many people in the world, many of whom could use your products and services, but if they don't know you exist,your business can never succeed.
Marketingis defined as
the process by which companies create customer interest in goods or services.
Ultimately participating in an Expo, printing up and passing out flyers, running advertisements, sending out email blasts are all about marketing. What marketing professionals know is how to get that information in front of people MOST LIKELY to purchase. You want to spend your marketing MONEY and EFFORTS hitting your TARGET MARKET dead on.
Hiring a professional marketing firm or consultant is ideal, but as a small business owner (like me) you may not have a HUGE marketing budget. That doesn't negate the fact that a business with no marketing strategy is a business that will fail, so what do you do when you are short on cash or skill AND committed to winning?
I started Diva Dance about 6 and a half years ago with the intention of transforming how women relate to exercise. I created Exoticise (Exotic Dance + Exercise) as a fun way to get fit, feel flirty, and have FUN!! I knew it was great, but I had to find a way for women to try it because most women were not interested in heading to the gym and a little shy about the thought of Exotic Dancing in public.
Having much experience in the home party business (I have done my fair share of network marketing companies) I decided to create "Intro Experiences." Small intimate "get-togethers" where women could experience how much fun Exoticise was and then choose to come out to my fitness classes.
These "Diva's Night" were a hit! So I started praying/meditating/brainstorming about how I could reach women already planning on getting together and get myself invited out to teach an intro session, instead of having to plan them and recruit women to come to me. The universe/God/luck/whatever you want to call it, led me to BRIDAL SHOWS! In February of 2006 I did my first Bridal show. I attended a total of 3 that year and the following summer I was overwhelmed with business!
At a Bridal Show you have the opportunity to connect face-to-face with your TARGET MARKET! All day you meet women who are ALREADY planning a big event and simply need to choose WHICH service provider to do business with! It's a marketing DREAM, IF you know how to work it.
One of the reasons I partnered with Top Notch Marketing was to make sure Spectacular could provide to exhibitors useful and relevant information and resources on marketing for small businesses.
