How many times have you requested bids or proposals from multiple sources, but you already knew who was going to get the business? I know I have...Well, that used to be a part of my corporate "job". I busted my butt getting apples-to-apples numbers from hungry and thirsty, well qualified businesses, when I knew good and well "corporate" was going to have the Board select their favorites. Obviously getting those numbers was my job...not helping a Board make the best decision. Glad those days are over!

Well, whaddya know? I suspect I'm being used for...yep...numbers. I'm wondering what are the best questions I can ask the prospect that really ask "Are you SERIOUS?". I know they're not together. Thats why they need my help. lol. I'm wondering if I should pull back on my red carpet proposals and just give 'em what they want...the numbers.

Again...lol...as I finish up another brilliant proposal. *sighs* Am I serious? Yep. Seriously helpful, talented and professional.

Thank you Erica! Yes, you most definitely "prequalify" your referrals and I certainly appreciate them.

You ARE talented... that is why I send referals to you when I can. I try to prequalify their need to when they come to you there is no doubt that they really do need you, they cannot do it themself, and they have a full assesment of the work that needs to be done so the price they should pay you is not a shock.... it's paying for good work. ( BTW- If anyone I refer does not behave, let me know. :) )

The reputation you gain by quality proposals may draw the attention of one who could be come a decision maker elsewhere. We had to select a 3rd party vendor at my last company. The person that made the biggest impact to our decision brought on her pick from her last job that came in 2nd for the choice there and did not get that bid. They worked out well for us though. It was her interactions with them and their presentation at her last job that won her over. Had they just gave the numbers, they may have lost there AND would have never been considered for the opportunity at the new company.

Hang in there. You work and professionalism speaks for itself and pves the way to better things.

Render more service than that for which you are paid and you will soon be paid for more than you render. The Law of "Increasing Returns" takes care of this!
