What would you do if you are a SAVER and your spouse is a SPENDER?

Most would argue that opposites attract.  Of course, you want a significant other who keeps you on your toes.  You want a person who can engage conversation, intelligent and sometimes spontaneous.  

When it comes to managing finances, is it true that opposites also attract? 

What if the two of you agreed to apply a savings program and stick to a budget worksheet? Only to find that your significant other engaged in emotional spending and purchased a new wardrobe [because of a sale] without discussing anything with you. 

The only argument that s/he could state was "it's a joint account" so s/he could spend his/her half.  

It's hard enough trying to make ends meet, but when you don't have someone financially compatible the hill becomes steeper.
