Hawkins, Hart to take part in charity event

The event is being organized by Lesley Redman, the wife of former Major League outfielder Tike Redman and an acquaintance of Hawkins. The Redmans' 13-year-old daughter, Jalyn, was diagnosed in 2009 with bone cancer. She's cancer-free, but must return every three months for five years to undergo testing.

Brewers Wives, an arm of the club's community foundation, is also involved in the event, to be held at Dave & Buster's in Wauwatosa, Wis., from 5-8 p.m. CT on July 31. For a $25 donation, attendees get food and beverages and an opportunity to mingle with Brewers players and coaches, plus a chance to bid on silent auction items.
